To showcase Abu Dhabi as a tourism destination to potential Chinese visitors, based in Shanghai. The greater awareness of a tourist destination the higher the visitation potential.
Using a Fulldome.pro 5M pop-up flying theater, Abu Dhabi tourism screened an incredibly immersive 4D experience, called Soaring Over Abu Dhabi. The extraordinary installation was set up in one of Shanghai’s most popular shopping malls and screened a breathtaking show shot in 180 degrees, using drones. Visitors gained a glimpse of all that Abu Dhabi has to offer, through the eyes of the national bird, the falcon.
Visitors were taken on a multi-sensory aerial tour of Abu Dhabi, enjoying spectacular views of the land, air, and sea. Motion seats were synched with the show helping to enhance the audience’s experience and create the feeling of being fully immersed in the film.
Using a WeeChat Mini Program, visitors were able to find out more information about Abu Dhabi, as well as seamlessly share their virtual trip online with friends and family.
The promotion allowed would-be travellers to experience and familiarise themselves with Adu Dhabi, like never before. More than 3,200 visitors enjoyed the show and influencer partnerships garnered over 3 million impressions on social media. Surveys showed that top-of-mind awareness of Abu Dhabi as a tourism destination in Shanghai increased by 4% and interest in visiting Abu Dhabi within 12 months increased by 17%.
