Partnering with South African Tourism to bring the sights and sounds of an African safari to Sydneysiders
Australia | 2022
How did South African Tourism use one of our domes?
There’s no doubt that a South Africa safari holiday is high on the bucket list of many Australians, but sometimes a little extra encouragement is needed to turn a dream holiday into reality! In March 2022, South African Tourism sought to raise awareness for South Africa as a destination among Sydneysiders, by setting up a 10M projection dome in bustling Martin Place. For four consecutive days, busy office workers had the opportunity to watch a free 10-minute immersive dome show, on their way to or from work – a unique experience that transported them to the plains of Kruger National Park.

What did visitors experience?
The spectacular 360 show gave visitors a taste of what it’s like to be on safari in South Africa, getting up close and personal with the Big Five and soaking up the beauty of the expansive African plains. The show was accompanied by cultural activities, such as African drumming and the opportunity to get an African-inspired selfie at an interactive photo booth. Tour operators were on hand to talk through enticing holiday packages with those who were keen to experience South Africa firsthand.
Where to next for the South African Tourism promotional dome?
Following the success of the Sydney promotion, there are plans for the dome to also make a pop-up appearance in Melbourne and Brisbane.
