A new education dome for the Almetyevsk Planetarium was our first project in the Republic of Tartarstan. This 10-meter projection dome was installed by our team in just a few weeks. “Just a few weeks?”, our more astute readers might think, “…but can’t you build a 10-meter dome in just a few hours?”. Yes, we can, but this dome needed a home, so first we built a 20-meter permanent dome to house it. The outer dome has a stunning printed PVC cover that gives the appearance of three layers of dome structure, includes a large window, and protects the 10 meter dome inside from the elements. Between the two domes there is room for displays, ticket booth and waiting area.
